Radio frequency use in Malaysia is governed by the Communications and Multimedia (Spectrum) Regulations 2000. Most private networks, microwave backhaul, repeaters and maritime or aeronautical stations need an Apparatus Assignment for each piece of equipment at each location, and the fee basis changed with the amendments that took effect on 1 July 2026. We keep your assignments correct, current and cost-effective.

FAQ
Questions about spectrum management
Do I need an assignment for Wi-Fi?
Standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth equipment operates under a Class Assignment, so no individual application is needed, provided the equipment is certified and used within the Class Assignment conditions.
What changed in July 2026?
Amendments to the Spectrum Regulations revised apparatus assignment fees, expanded the bandwidth categories and restructured the frequency bands used to calculate them. Apparatus assignment certificates are now issued digitally through MCMC’s SpectraWeb portal.
What happens if an assignment lapses?
Operating radio apparatus without a valid assignment is an offence under the Act, and reinstating a lapsed assignment can take longer than renewing one. We track every expiry date and start renewals early.
